Tracks

LEGO Racers on Game Boy Color features ten unique tracks, down from the original game's thirteen. Knightmare-athon and Adventure Templeton Trail are not used, while Alien Rally Asteroid and Rocket Racer Run are merged into a single track with the former's visuals and music and the latter's name and function. The tracks are divided into seven circuits. Circuits 1–3 each feature three tracks; Circuits 4–6 repeat the first three circuits with each circuit's tracks in reverse order (though unlike in the original game, the tracks are not mirrored). Circuit 7 contains a single track.

Release

LEGO Racers was announced for Game Boy Color at E3 2000, alongside the Game Boy Color versions of LEGO Alpha Team and LEGO Island 2. At the time it was scheduled to be released in fall 2000.[6]

The game was released on 29 December 2000 in Europe[2] and on 18 January 2001 in North America.[1] In the United Kingdom, it was initially priced at £25.99[5]

Reception

LEGO Racers on Game Boy Color received little attention upon release. Total Game Boy reviewed the game positively, praising its presentation and racer building and calling it "the most original" of the then-recent "Mario Kart rip-offs".[5] GBX magazine gave it a more negative score, describing it as having "dull power-ups and poor action."[7]
