Summary
Rock Raiders is divided into fourteen two-page spreads, each featuring a different scene in the story. Every spread contains two text boxes, one with a few pargraphs of story and the other with a puzzle for readers to solve using details in the story or illustrations.
Plot
The LMS Explorer is struck an asteroid, sending it off-course into orbit around an unknown planet. The shops scanners detect LEGO ore and power crystals in the planet, which are needed to repair and refuel the ship. Docs leads a team of Rock Raiders to the planet, consisting of himself, Jet, Sparks, Bandit, and Axle. The team use the Tunnel Transporter to reach a sub-surface two miles below the surface, where they see a Rock Monster smashing open a boulder to eat a power crystal. Bandit sails a Catamaran down an icy river where he is ambushed by an ice monster. Jet and Docs survey the cavern system on the Hoverboard, looking for a place to establish their headquarters. Axle and Sparks are mining in the Giant Drilling Vehicle when Sparks falls into a ravine and is surrounded by Rock Monsters wanting his power crystal. Jet and Docs encounter an Ice Monster and a Lava Monster fighting. After exploring, the Rock Raiders set up their Undergound Headquarters and start drilling for LEGO ore. Docs detects a pocket of explosive gas in the rocks, which they need water to neutralize. Jet flies the Tunnel Transporter to find more crystals to power their drills, but is knocked out of her vehicle by a volcanic eruption. The team uses explosives to blast through a pile of boulders and uncovers enough power crystals to refuel the Explorer. After repairing the teleport platform, the team returns to the ship, but a Rock Monster stows away with them.
