Whats the opinion on having image galleries, either somewhere on articles or on separate pages?

Image galleries of what, for example? I think it is best to keep it contained within the article it's related to, spontaneously, but it depends on how you mean 🙂

Like if there's additional images that don't fit in the regular article text. Like development screenshots of a game for example, if there's a lot of them. A lot of wikis have those with a gallery section bear the bottom of the page or a separate gallery page if there's a lot of related images, though some of them definitely overuse it and are messy (looking at you wikia wikis). The alternative is just linking to a category containing images, which keeps articles cleaner but those cant be organized or captioned really.
I'm not a big fan of galleries tbh but I dunno what's best for stuff like that. Like to continue that example I assume we wanna gather all the dev pics of stuff possible and have it all accessible in one place. But idk

I definitely think galleries would be best for that, but perhaps make it a limit? So more than, say, 3 pictures, where each picture is not essential to the article (such as a collection of game screenshots, with the intention of showing off the screenshots in general rather than highlighting a specific detail in each image) then one uses an image gallery
