The Space Mystery was developed by Mondo A/S,[3] the same company that designed the original LEGO World Wide Web Site.[4]
Unlike Treasure Hunt, which was only available in English, The Space Mystery could be played in Danish, English, German, or Spanish.[5]
The Space Mystery was first made available on LEGO.com on 5 December 1996.[1] Mondo employees Soren Beck[6] and "Laust" advertised it on rec.toys.lego a few hours after its release.[7] The LEGO Group officially announced it in a press release on 12 December.[5]
