XYZ was a "secret" department at the LEGO Group dedicated to coming up with big new concepts[1]. It is known to have existed from 1979 to the mid-eighties. Not a lot came out of the XYZ department, but the people involved moved on to other projects, such as LEGO Technic.

The only currently known employees to work at XYZ is Jan Ryaa and Sten Schmidt, both who retired from the LEGO Group in 2021[1].
